Abaca adventures (pronounced "Ambatha")

I am pleased to report that, after a dramatic "roll and dive" stunt moment of getting Sharyn's assignment in at 5 minutes to post office closing time, we did indeed escape from our desks for long enough to dive into the wilderness and cleanse our weary bodies and minds with a bit of greenery and a dive into an icy mountain stream.
We successfully navigated the lush rainforest (regular rain = vigorous growth!) to the gorgeous waterfalls with only one wrong turn....which sadly let us straight into an area forevermore known as "spider grove". errrrrcchhh.... I think Sharyn will revisit that one a few times in her nightmares! Thus note the large stick featuring in all further photos, never far from hand ! The views were spectacular of course, Fiji knows how to turn on the glamour when it comes to rolling moutains and sparkling oceans dotted with sand rimmed islands. And a lone towering palm tree amused us greatly - in the way of people who live in a town where everything closes at 5pm and are thus entertainment starved :-) But really - it was a great tree! We even took a video of it ! And now... sadly... all good things must come to an end. The skies have opened (I'm sure abaca foliage just grew another inch) and we are back at our desks...back to study.... and sending happy thoughts to all :-)

the sound of one hand typing....

there is no photo.... its just too uninteresting.... a resounding silence recently indicates that we are both chained to our desks doing uni assignments.... I contemplated taking a photo of us hard at work...but it was very uninspiring material to work with ! HOWEVER stay tuned...this Sunday we are hiking to the abaca national park waterfall. I promise sweaty pictures :-)

and now... the real kadavu mud story...

You may have wondered where the "mud" was in the gorgeous scenic view across the hills... well... I cleverly kept it all in my shoe....
What you can't see was that the mud bath experience extended up to my knees - not quite the afternoon stroll we had expected....
Five hours later.... collapse.... and was the refreshment of the waterfall at the end worth it? ummmmm ....

My first dive at Voli Voli

Intro dive in the shallow water of Voli Voli ..... Rhianon gives the all ok.

Kadavu mud baths.....

A well earned view from the hill tops of Kadavu, after a couple of hours of hills, sweat, mud and mangroves
